LIGHTWEIGHT/LEISURE PRODUCTS
Most often you will only require a winch for pulling around 4500lbs , sufficient to pull a car onto a trailer or flatbed. These winches are considered lightweight or leisure products. WINCH WINCHES has a range of products in this area ranging from CHAMPION 2000 P portable winch to the CHAMPION C 3500A. Whilst these will work perfectly well, they do need to be treated with care and consideration in a commercial environment.
RECOVERY/4X4 PRODUCTS
Vehicle recovery can be divided in to two categories, Light and Heavy. For light recovery ie you are pulling cars and light vans onto a low loader (ie vehicles with four rolling wheels) then a 6000 lb line pull winch such as the CHAMPION C6000GS or the C8000GS will be sufficient.
For heavier pulling ie accident damaged vehicle or recovering from fields and ditches etc, then a heavy duty product with a line pull of 9000lb is what is needed. The CHAMPION C9000EWX is a good choice. If a real heavy duty winch is required CHAMPION C10000N or C10000GS would be the best option.
For the 4x4s the most commonly used models are the CHAMPION C8000GS and the CHAMPION C9000GS. However for real heavy duty applications the CHAMPION C10000N with its heavy duty motor and specially designed gearing is ideal.
There are two models at the top end of the electric winch market the CHAMPION C12000EWX with 12000lb line pull and C15000N with 15000lb line pull for serious pulling power. These are some of the most advanced winches in the world used in many heavy duty applications including military applications.
ELECTRIC OR HYDRAULIC
Many people choose electric for the ease of installation and the knowledge that if the hydraulics fail they can use electric (if the battery can cope).
However hydraulic winches do not have the same potential for miss operation as electric and therefore tend to be very reliable with very long lifespan.
The CHAMPION hydraulic winches C10000NH and C15000NH can operate using very low oil flow and therefore can be driven using a vehicles steering pump
